The National Society of Professional Engineers holds Professional Engineers Day on the first Wednesday in August to mark the anniversary of the first professional engineering license and to celebrate the profession.

There are multiple paths to become a licensed professional engineer. Most often, engineers are required to complete a four-year degree, work under a professional engineer for at least four years, and pass two rigorous competency exams, the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam and the Professional Engineering (PE) Exam.

Andrew McKeever, a Method Engineering Group principal, elaborated on what it means to be a professional engineer.

“There is a lot of responsibility that comes with being a licensed engineer. Not only are you demonstrating your competency to design complex building systems,” he said, “But you are responsible to protect the architect’s vision and the building owner’s budget. Our clients look to us to design buildings that are safe and efficient without compromising on aesthetic beauty and functionality.”

Method Engineering Group engineers are currently licensed to practice in seven states including Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia. With an NCEES record, the directors of engineering at Method Engineering Group are able to obtain licensure in other states quickly and easily. The rapidly growing firm looks forward to serving its architectural and building-owner clients all over the Southeastern United States.

On Professional Engineers Day, Method Engineering Group celebrates our own professional engineers and we look forward to adding to the team!
