Georgia Building Code Changes
The Georgia Department of Community Affairs has adopted 8 new codes effective January 1, 2020. The new codes include:
2018 International Building Code (IBC), with Georgia amendments
2018 International Residential Code (IRC), with Georgia amendments
2018 International Plumbing Code (IPC), with Georgia amendments
2018 International Mechanical Code (IMC), with Georgia amendments
2018 International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), with Georgia amendments
2018 International Fire Code (IFC)
2018 International Swimming Pool and Spa Code (ISPSC), with Georgia amendments
2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), with Georgia amendments
The codes are being updated from the current 2012 versions and the 2009 version of the IECC. The top 20 IBC changes can be found here.
The current edition of the NEC is 2017 and was adopted January 1, 2018. The tentative date for 2020 NEC adoption is January 1, 2021.
We will focus on the mechanical, electrical and plumbing changes between the current editions and the new editions in later blog posts. The first code we will look at is the 2015 IECC.
